Papers: Man Utd want new contract for Maguire

Tudor named Spurs head coach for rest of season

Tottenham rejected Bergvall approaches from PL rivals

Tottenham Hotspur rejected enquiries from Chelsea and Aston Villa about midfielder Lucas Bergvall in January, according to The Athletic.

Bergvall has been unable to hold down a regular role in Tottenham's starting line-up this season and two Premier League rivals made contact to check his 'situation.'

But Spurs were not willing to let the Sweden international leave the club.

Slot: Konate is vital, we want him to stay

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has revealed his desire to keep Ibrahima Konate at the club - calling the defender "vital" to his plans.

The French defender's contract is up at the end of the season but no agreement has been reached yet over an extension - despite Slot confirming that talks are underway.

Its just as good from him as from Virgil [van Dijk], said Slot of Konate's form.

Ibou has had a very good spell recently. He had a lot of good games earlier in the season but then he was also part of the reason why we conceded a goal.

His general performances were good but then a small mistake he made immediately led to a goal and so he was judged differently. But he is having a very good partnership with Virgil since Ive been here and, just like Virgil, he has always been fit. Touch wood. These two are vital for us, not only because of the quality they have but because of the lack of options we have behind.

We are in talks with him so that tells you what we want.

Its clear we would like him to stay but negotiations are ongoing so lets see where that ends. We wouldnt be in negotiations if we didnt want him to stay.

Horncastle explains Tudor appointment

Italian football expert James Horncastle explains why Igor Tudor could be the perfect short-term appointment for Tottenham Hotspur.

Ronaldo set to end Saudi strike

Latest from Your Site News' Kaveh Solhekol:

Cristiano Ronaldo will end his strike on Saturday and is set to play for Al Nassr against Al Fateh.

Ronaldo has missed his side's last two Saudi Pro League games plus their Asian Champions League Two match against Arkadag because he has been unhappy with the way Al Nassr were being run.

Ronaldo hinted at his return when he posted a number of training pictures earlier today with the caption "locked in."

Al Nassr can move back up to second in the Saudi Pro League tomorrow and one point behind leaders Al Hilal if they win at Al Fateh.

Al Hilal went three points clear of Al Ahli today after a 2-0 win over Al Ettifaq.

Euro football expert reacts to Tudor news

European football expert Andy Brassell gives the lowdown on Igor Tudor's background, as the former Juventus and Marseille coach takes charge of Spurs on an interim basis till the end of the season.

Can Tudor keep Spurs in the Premier League?

The Athletic's Serie A writer James Horncastle on Igor Tudor:

Playing a back three will depend on whether he has the centre-backs to do that. The injuries make that a problem at Spurs. He does favour playing the Antonio Conte and Gian Piero Gasperini way 3-4-2-1. But he has shown himself to be adaptable in needs-must situation. And this is one of them.

What you will see in Igor Tudor in his press conferences, hes quite an affable character. When he was a defender, he was rough and ready, elbows out, he wasnt afraid to be a badass. But in press conferences hes very personable, friendly but in the dressing room and on the sidelines, he is someone who expects disciple. That tough guy does come out.

Theres certainly a belief that Tottenham need leadership not just from players such as Conor Gallagher or when they tried to sign Andy Robertson but also from a coach. He believes he has got what it takes to be that leader.

He will know the smell in the dressing room of what a relegation fight looks like. When he was at Udinese, he didnt have the players Spurs have in the dressing room. He will look at it and be relatively confident of delivering the minimum objective of staying in the league.

There will be players in that dressing room who have worked in Serie A and know how coaches expect players to work in that league. That will help him start life at Tottenham. My only fear is the fixtures they have got. Its a tough start.
